Detroit Lions Academy offers students a comprehensive learning experience in preparation for high school. Our school provides additional academic and social support in a small learning community. Our comprehensive curriculum, intended to increase student achievement, includes Project-based learning, individualized assignments, data driven instruction, and technology. One hundred percent of our content-area instructional staff are rated highly qualified.

Offerings/ Community Partners

Tutoring/extended day program, Girl’s Yoga, Student Leadership Team, Green Team, Co-Teaching, Student Netbooks, mentoring (The Band of Brothers), conflict resolution and a Paperless Class (Coming Soon). Partnerships with Detroit Lions Organization and Detroit Lions Women’s Association.

Principal Alean King is committed to providing students with a high quality education as well as the resources and support needed to ensure success. As the parent of a child in Detroit Public Schools Community District she recognizes the importance of a strong home-school. She believes that by working together each student’s social, emotional and academic needs can be met.

Commitment to High School Success

Detroit Lions Alternative Academy will provide a comprehensive curriculum which meets state standards, integrate technology, and provide character education through community service projects to prepare our student for high school. Our commitment to high school success will be supported by all staff, support staff, and school leadership. Our school guidance counselor provides transition activities to guide students with high school decision making.
